Doreen's Story

From Teacher to Top Earner—How Doreen Did It

At the age of 23, Doreen was an elementary school teacher with no resources or background. Due to the low salary and limited future career prospects, despite the generous vacation time, she thought that if she could earn in 10 years what would take 30 years in teaching, she could avoid daily work. She did not choose a stable life. Instead, she ventured into the insurance industry. Six years later, she earned more than what a traditional career could have provided.

Breakthrough and Transformation
In her first year in the insurance industry, Doreen faced significant challenges. With no family background or resources, she initially approached friends or relatives of similar age, but they either lacked the financial means or were skeptical about insurance. As a result, she decided to focus on business insurance and began connecting with many entrepreneurs and business owners. She found that older clients greatly valued the services she provided and offered her substantial support and encouragement. Particularly after helping families resolve their financial issues, many clients were willing to recommend her services to those around them. At the time, Malaysia's insurance market was plagued by widespread issues—some agents collected premiums but failed to submit them to the insurance companies, some clients were unable to make successful claims, and others ended up purchasing identical policies redundantly. Doreen addressed each of these problems one by one, which allowed her to grow and thrive in the industry. Through this experience, she came to believe that treating people with sincerity is the most important value in this profession.

From bottom to the peak
After experiencing the highs and lows of life, including an emotional breakup and the process of rebuilding a team, Doreen finally stood as the top performer at Malaysia Insurance Group. Having worked in sales for four years, she successfully advanced to the position of General Manager, earning ten times more than her peers while enjoying the freedom of time. She began traveling the world with her friends. Doreen’s purpose in building a team of managers is also to help more people achieve success like hers.

It is precisely because of this original aspiration that AwesomeDistrict has nurtured over 100 successful insurance entrepreneurs in the past decade. Throughout this process, Doreen experienced emotional setbacks and the departure of team members. However, thanks to AD's well-established training system for new recruits, she quickly rebuilt her team and went on to win Malaysia's Best Organization Award four times, the National First Place Award twice, and the Million-Dollar Organization Award for 14 consecutive years.
